On your marks, get set....

I've been watching the World Athletics Championships with its false starts, exciting finishes and winners medals so I thought that I would mention some of most competitive graduate programmes that require a swift application. (No medals for seeing where that link was going.)

Civil Service Fast Stream the applications open for this scheme on the 19th September, before most students have dusted off their laptops and highlighter pens and started back to Keele.  The closing date is the 30th November, for most of the main strands but check the website for the scheme you are interested in.

GTTR Applications for teacher training, these will open through the website in early October 2011 but for application to primary courses it is strongly recommended that you make an early application, certainly before the beginning of December deadline.  We suggest that you begin to work on your personal statement as soon as possible. Reflecting on your teaching experience, work with young people and thinking about your transferable skills.  One of the careers advisers here will be happy to help you with that particular part of the form.

For details of other graduate schemes please check the vacancy section of the careers and employability website or come in and pick up the free graduate directories at the beginning of term.
