No silly season ?

There was a time when August was the silly season, newspapers and journalists were forced, by the lack of real news to concentrate on less meaty stories, this August there has been no such shortage.  Looting and the financial markets have ensured that the papers are full and reporters have plenty to comment on.

At Careers and Employability there has been no lull either, we've been busy seeing students and graduates who need help with CVs and application forms as well as some who are preparing for early applications to teaching through GTTR.  This week we met with Joe from Teach First who was briefing us on their graduate scheme.  It's worth remembering, if you're interested in training to be a teacher this way, that although they ask for 300 or equivalent UCAS points, there is an extenuating circumstances box where you can explain why you may have fallen just short of this.

We've also been developing our Careers and Employability Centre with some exciting new resources but you'll have to wait to see the changes, we're closing for a week 15th -19th August to make sure everything is looking good and working well.  In the meantime, here's a sneak preview...

This blogger is off to enjoy her hols, see you in September.
